Frequently Asked Questions
Operational Questions
Q. How can I tell a right Ear from a left Ear?
A. There is writing on the shell surface of each Ear; the RED is for right and BLUE for left.
Q. How can I tell a right Open Ear from a left Open Ear?
A. The My Next Day Open Ear can be worn on either ear. There is NOT a right or left ear specific unit. Whether you want to wear it on the right ear or the left ear is a simple matter of installing the right or left sound tube. The right tube has red lettering and the left sound tube has blue lettering indicating the sound tube size.
Q. Why does feedback (whistling) occur and how can it be stopped?
A. The primary cause of feedback in any amplifying device that completely sets in the ear is a loose fit. The self fit system on The My Next Day Ear insures a secure fit for the vast majority of users. To address a loose fit, try the different size Soft Tips. Loose fit is not an issue with The My Next Day Open Ear. Feedback can also be caused by the microphone being obstructed. Both The My Next Day Ear One and The My Next Day Open Ear have feedback cancellation capabilities, if your unit begins to whistle make sure to take your hand or finger away from the unit and wait a few seconds, it will stop whistling by itself. Both units also have a delay "on". When you turn the unit "on" with the volume on/off switch it will delay amplifying for 4 to 5 seconds, this allows you to place the in your ear without feedback. Ear wax can cause feedback by blocking the sound outlet, cleaning or changing the soft tip can solve the problem. If the sound tube on The My Next Day Open Ear becomes blocked or crimped feedback can occur, simply clean or replace the sound tube.
Q. What is Wide Dynamic Range Compression?
A. Wide Dynamic Range Compression provides different degrees of amplification depending on the loudness of the sound. Softer sounds are given more amplification than louder sounds.
Q. What is Dynamic Speech Enhancement?
A. Dynamic Speech Enhancement (DSE) helps reduce noise and amplify speech in noisy environments. The DSE provides the optimum levels of compression to provide amplification for soft sounds in the presence of loud ones. With DSE loud environments become more comfortable to the listener making it easier to focus on conversation.
Q. What does the Frequency Gain Trimmer do?
A. The reason most people get hearing aids is difficulty hearing and understanding speech in noisy surroundings. The noise reduction circuits incorporate multiple bands across frequency. Ambient noise is composed of mostly low frequency sounds. The low frequencies are also often associated with the feeling of power, or even sound quality. With more low frequencies, the device will typically sound warmer. Too many lows will make the listener feel plugged up. With the Frequency Gain Trimmer you can adjust the amplification of those frequencies to your liking.
Q. What are Soft Tips and how can I get more of them?
A. Two sizes of Soft Tips are provided with each Ear and Open Ear to provide more comfort and fitting options. Alternate size Soft Tips can be pulled off and pushed on over the sound outlet opening of The My Next Day Ear and the Sound Tube of The My Next Day Open Ear. To change the tip size, follow the instructions included in your kit. Additional or replacement Soft Tips are available by mail order from the Service Center. They are $3.00 ea. for The My Next Day Ear One or $2.00 ea for The My Next Day Open Ear.
Q. Why are two sound tubes included in with The My Next Day Open Ear?
A. One for the Left ear and one for the Right ear. There are different lengths of sound tubes available. If you feel you need a longer or shorter sound tube, call our 1-800 customer helpline. Live help is available 8:00 AM 5:00 PM, Eastern Standard Time. You will get full details with your purchase. We will be glad to send you one. Sound tubes do wear and need to be replaced once or twice a year or if the sound tube gets kinked and sound cannot pass through the tube to your ear. Additional or replacement Sound Tubes are available by mail order from the Service Center. They are $4.00 ea.
Q. Where are the parts and the unit made (where is it manufactured)?
A. The parts are purchased from hearing aid electronics manufacturers located in the U.S. that operate worldwide. The units are manufactured in the United States.

Battery Questions
Q. How do I change the battery?
A. The battery fits only one way. Correct placement is photo illustrated in the Operating Instructions. Please review battery installation prior to installing a battery for the first time.
Q. What is the battery size?
A. All The My Next Day Ear One and The My Next Day Open Ear units require a size 10 battery.
Q. How much do batteries cost and where can I get them?
A. Batteries average .75 ea. They can be purchased anywhere hearing aid batteries are sold, department stores, drug stores, etc. The store brand batteries (i.e. Walgreen, Wal-Mart) are usually the best buy and are quality batteries. The only batteries we don't recommend are the inexpensive imports from China found on the internet. Batteries can also be purchased from us by calling the customer service helpline. Full details with you purchase.
Q. How long do the batteries last?
A. Generally, a size 10 battery lasts three or five days and will vary depending on how the device is used and maintained. The following conditions have a negative effect on battery life.
• Used a lot in noisy environments • Operated with the volume at highest levels • Has debris or wax build up in the sound outlet or microphone opening • Not turned off when not in use • Operated with continuous feedback (whistling) or in any condition which makes the electronics work harder
Q. I put a new battery in and it doesn't work--it did before the old battery died, what's wrong?
A. The batteries may take up to 1 minutes to fully air activate when the tab is removed. Check to make sure no adhesive is remaining on the battery blocking the activation holes. Rub the battery on the flat side with your finger to remove the any debris and activation should occur. Also make sure wax is not blocking the end of the unit or sound tube.
Customer Service and Warranty Questions
Q. What does the Manufacturer's Limited Warranty Cover?
A. The My Next Day Ear One and The My Next Day Open Ear are covered against defects in materials and workmanship for one year from delivery of the order. If our examination and testing determines that the unit failed to work due to parts, materials or workmanship we will repair or replace it for no charge.
Q. If I cause the problem what does it cost to have the unit serviced?
A. During the 30 Day Trial Period we will repair or replace either unit for only $19.95. After the trial period and for long as you own the unit, The Next Day Ear One will be repaired or replaced for $99.95 and The My Next Day Open Ear for $149.95. This includes shipping. You must be able to send the unit to us for these prices to be in effect.
Q. How often will my hearing aid need to be serviced?
A. It depends on how it is used and maintained. We see some units a couple times per year but the vast majority only get serviced every couple years or longer. The key is earwax. Wax intrusion into the unit or sound tube causes the device to work harder, reducing battery life and eventually causing complete failure. Users should get periodic exams of ear canals to be sure earwax is not accumulating. There are good over the counter ear canal cleansing products your medical doctor can recommend. Controlling earwax greatly reduces the need for servicing.
